Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan.

Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) is a compulsory subject and a defining feature of every Muhammadiyah and 'Aisyiyah higher education institution, including Politeknik 'Aisyiyah Batam. AIK combines the strengthening of vocational competence with the cultivation of Islamic values, so that graduates are not only skilled in their field but also of good character and integrity.

The place of AIK

AIK is taught in progressive stages throughout the period of study and forms an inseparable part of the curriculum. The material is designed to be relevant to the lives of students and to the world of work, not merely religious theory.

Purpose

Through AIK, we shape graduates who:

• Have a strong foundation of faith and character.
• Uphold ethics and integrity in their work.
• Care for others and for the wider community.
• Make Islamic values a guide in making professional decisions.

Scope of the material

AIK study generally covers four main areas:

1. Faith and humanity: understanding creed and the meaning of life as a human being.
2. Worship and social conduct: performing worship and behaving ethically within society.
3. Kemuhammadiyahan: learning about the history, ideas, and movement of Muhammadiyah and 'Aisyiyah.
4. Islam and knowledge: connecting Islamic values with scholarship and professional practice.

Guidance and activities

Beyond the classroom, Islamic values are nurtured through everyday campus activities, including:

• Regular Islamic study sessions and mentoring.
• Guidance in reading and understanding the Quran.
• Habituation of worship along with the example set by lecturers and academic support staff.
• Social activities and care for the community.

Muhammadiyah and 'Aisyiyah

Politeknik 'Aisyiyah Batam operates under the 'Aisyiyah movement, the women's organisation of Muhammadiyah that works in the fields of da'wah, education, health, and community empowerment. The spirit of 'Aisyiyah in bringing forth progressive women and a progressive generation is the soul of the education at this campus.
